Heerhugowaard Station Area

Wednesday, July 18, 2018

On Tuesday, July 17, the redevelopment plans for the current wok restaurant location (Stationsweg 101) and a number of adjacent plots were presented in the council chamber of Heerhugowaard town hall. The first designs were shown, and there was an opportunity to ask questions.

Future Dreams in the City of Opportunities

Behind the station lies the oldest business park in Heerhugowaard, which has begun to show signs of wear. At the same time, great opportunities are emerging. By building more around the stations, we address the significant need for housing and more sustainable transport in North Holland. This approach reduces the need to build on green pastures and creates vibrant and safe living and working areas around the stations.

The municipality of Heerhugowaard began shaping future visions for the station area and the Heerhugowaard and Langedijk junction years ago. In 2013, the 'Stationspark Heerhugowaard' structural vision was approved by the city council. A detailed master plan is now in development to bring these dreams to life step by step.

The structural vision and master plan were developed with input from Heerhugowaard residents. Several entrepreneurs from the region have also embraced the challenge of turning these beautiful future visions into concrete reality.
