New Build Intratuin, Heerlen (the Netherlands) 2008

A new Intratuin garden center has been built on a vacant plot near a residential boulevard in Heerlen.

The strategically located garden center, opposite the residential boulevard and across from Ikea, serves as a connection between the two areas. The compact design features greenhouses as the main shopping area and a separate rectangular volume for the stockroom and offices. The greenhouses are unusually tall, creating a spacious and flexible environment.

The entrance features a distinctive canopy roof supported by space frames. Inside, the merchandise is arranged in a logical, seasonal order. The garden cafe occupies a prominent position, adjacent to a large children's play area. The outdoor sales area is designed to create a truly green experience.

A mesh fence wall along the parking area visually connects the building to the opposite side of the road. Future plans include a walkway through the garden center and over the road, further connecting the residential boulevards. An elevated entrance with stairs and ramps, as well as an additional access at the rear near the footbridge, will be added to the front of the building.

This garden center is a special oasis in the residential boulevard of Heerlen, offering a green and inspiring shopping experience for the entire family.
