New Build Plaza Graafstaete, Duiven (the Netherlands) 2006

A large shopping mall, Plaza Graafstaete, opened in Duiven in 2006, offering a variety of home and garden stores under one roof.

Located near the A12 highway exit, Plaza Graafstaete covers an area of approximately 36,000 square meters and is situated in a supra-regional area with other major retailers like IKEA, Praxis, Leen Bakker, Makro, Kwantum, and Piet Klerkx.

Arriving from the A12, visitors will notice a large, black cube with an open glass façade offering a direct view into Intratuin.

The shopping mall features a transparent communal passage that connects Intratuin, the DIY store, the kitchen center, and the home-furnishing outlet. This passage, which includes a snack bar, florist, seating, olive trees, and various displays, is an experience in itself. It separates the greenhouse-like atmosphere of Intratuin from the more utilitarian volumes of the other stores.

The façade features a two-meter-high plinth made of a sustainable, ceramic ClickBrick dry-stacking system. This natural material complements the lush green environment inside the garden center building.
