In addition to the residential tower and the care building, a new, large puzzle piece is known, the Stationsquadrant.
The design of the Station Quadrant has a stepped structure. The design aligns well with that of De Groene Trede, the residential tower, and the care building in Heerhugowaard. The aim is to create a homogeneous, small urban area with plenty of greenery—making it a place where people want to be, not just a transit hub to catch a train, according to architect Paul Breddels.
The building consists of two-thirds housing of various sizes and types, and one-third shared living spaces. Shared living refers to compact living units for single households with shared facilities such as a kitchen, recreation room, and outdoor space. The plan also includes greenhouses in the outdoor area, where shared-living residents can grow vegetables together, fostering a sense of community.
As a whole, significant attention is given to nature, including sustainable building practices. Green spaces help combat heat stress, capture particulate matter and CO2, and enhance biodiversity.
